KIKI THE YOGI: ADVENTURES OF AN ASPIRING YOGI

How Yoga Saved My Life

A quote that really changed my life is a quote by Ram Dass, “Your problem is, you are too busy holding on to your unworthiness.” In 2019, I hit, what we would call “rock bottom.” However, this rock bottom ultimately became my moment to come clean with my family, my friends, and ultimately myself. I know now that this rock bottom could possibly be the best thing that has ever happened to me. I had always been interested in yoga and attended classes here and there but after all the hardships and difficult situations I had endured I wanted answers or a playbook on how I got here and how I could turn my life around. I had just turned 30 and thought my best years were over and I had thrown them all away and had nothing to show for myself. I had dissapointed my parents, my family, God and myself mostly. But I ended up buying a book by Owen Thomas Ashton called “Twelve secrets of Radically Healthy People.” These twelve steps are the following: 1) No Excuses 2) Be Happy 3) Turn Suffering Into Motivation 4) Become Self-Motivated 5) Unplug from the Conventional Health System 6) Seek Knowledge 7) Eliminate Addiction 8) Know Your Purpose  9) Attack Challenges 10) Live by a Higher Standard 11) Exercise 12) INTENTION CONTROLS TRANSFORMATION. This book is not necessarily about yoga but for me, I felt like these were guidelines for me to climb out of the hole I had created. KiKi the Yogi: Adventures of an Aspiring Yogi serves as a vessel to project my passions, and clue in my loyal readers as to what inspires me in this crazy world. So, sit back, relax, and read my story. 🙏 Namaste ~ the light in me honors and recognizes the light within you.

Quotes to Awake the Inner Yogi

This section is dedicated to quotes that have truly motivated me on my quest towards this life and these goals I am working towards. I think they should be shared with everyone :)
Namaste 🙏 Namaste literally means, “I bow to you.” ... The spiritual meaning of namaste conveys that “the divine in me respectfully recognizes the divine in you.” Namaste invokes the feeling of spiritual oneness of heart and mind, with the person one is greeting.

“I often think of them as rare Jewels, because they are the rare gems of wisdom that give direction to a well lived and joyful life.” In Yogic philosophy, these are also the first two limbs of the eight limbs of yoga.

Truthfulness: Turns us from lies and half truths to expressing our uniqueness and authenticity

Non-Stealing: Turns us from theft to cultivating new skills and abilities

Non-Excess: Turns us from agreed to appreciation and pleasure without excess

Non-Possessiveness: Turns us from attachment to intimacy without possession

NIYAMAS (Sanskrit word for observances) Purity: Invites us to cleanse our bodies, our speech, and our thoughts

Contentment: Invites us to fall in love with her own life

Self-Discipline: Invites us to consciously choose discipline and growth
