A quote that really changed my life is a quote by Ram Dass, “Your problem is, you are too busy holding on to your unworthiness.” In 2019, I hit, what we would call “rock bottom.” However, this rock bottom ultimately became my moment to come clean with my family, my friends, and ultimately myself. I know now that this rock bottom could possibly be the best thing that has ever happened to me. I had always been interested in yoga and attended classes here and there but after all the hardships and difficult situations I had endured I wanted answers or a playbook on how I got here and how I could turn my life around. I had just turned 30 and thought my best years were over and I had thrown them all away and had nothing to show for myself. I had dissapointed my parents, my family, God and myself mostly. But I ended up buying a book by Owen Thomas Ashton called “Twelve secrets of Radically Healthy People.” These twelve steps are the following: 1) No Excuses 2) Be Happy 3) Turn Suffering Into Motivation 4) Become Self-Motivated 5) Unplug from the Conventional Health System 6) Seek Knowledge 7) Eliminate Addiction 8) Know Your Purpose 9) Attack Challenges 10) Live by a Higher Standard 11) Exercise 12) INTENTION CONTROLS TRANSFORMATION. This book is not necessarily about yoga but for me, I felt like these were guidelines for me to climb out of the hole I had created. KiKi the Yogi: Adventures of an Aspiring Yogi serves as a vessel to project my passions, and clue in my loyal readers as to what inspires me in this crazy world. So, sit back, relax, and read my story. 🙏 Namaste ~ the light in me honors and recognizes the light within you.
